Ok, I'm posting here just to get a DEC post date on the NE forum as typically (see last year) it isn't till Feb.

I'm all wrapped up, props should be pulled next week and sent out to get repitched. I'm planning an unusually early splash in mid-march (fingers crossed) weather permitting.

Will need to see how i can deal with potentially freezing temperatures in late March if I fire up the engines. Thoughts?

Happy New Year!

Long overdue for a meeting, Spike!
Just made a "lunch run" to Warrne, RI -
Prospective's harbor is very cool - with a current that makes the lobsters newburg all over themselves. And the waitresses at Traffords chant his name. Have fun at Three Mile! Off to Newburyport/Portsmouth this weekend.
Cheers -

Riverbedo - glad you are enjoying the boat. Maine is beautiful! Herd the lobsters are in abundance and cheep this year.

Going to Three Mile Harbor Fireworks next week. Cheers!

Tim - Just buzzed the Nubble Light with two others in convoy - did Kennebunkport for lunch and just tied up back at the house. Great day - 1 to 2 foot seas, water temps 64, partly cloudy, 82 degrees in the air.

Pro - I'll wave hello and hoist one in your general direction tomorrow!

Cheers -
Steve

River, thanks for the offer but I'll be out of town. One day we'll pull this off. Trafford is a great spot. You'll get a distant view of my boat to your right in the south marina of the yacht club. Enjoy.

Hopefully everyone is boating!! Went to Cutty a week ago, potters cove/Newport for the 4th, heading out to Block to go fishing this weekend then next week we head out on our annual 10 day trip - Newport, Block and Nantucket...hope the weather holds!

No trip to Maine for me this year but I would love to get back up to York Beach and Kennebunkport....someday Casco

Safe boating to all

Thinking Traffords in Warren unless you might have another suggestion. Call in sick and join in!

The NE boaters are quiet. We just got back from a week away to Hadley's Harbor, Edgartown, Lake Tashmoo, and Cuttyhunk. Excellent weather. Where are you eating in Barrington? Perhaps you can wave to my boat floating alone in her slip as her captain slaves away until the next boating vaca...
Riverbed Posted - Jul 10 2012 : 11:14:52
Mr. Tim -
You were ahead of your time - and still current.
Where IS everyone?!? Hopefully on the water. Lots of cruising in the last two weeks here along the Maine coast and with wi-fi and decent Blackberry coverage - no one at work was the wiser. Until now, that is...

Where is everyone?
Anyone coming to Maine this season?

We'll be in Barrington, RI for lunch on the waterfront on Thursday while watching everyone trying to hook up in that crazy current.

Stories anyone?
Lunch anyaone?

Nice snow remover! I know what you mean about the dock riverbed, never got an inch of ice around it and I spent the coldest day in October lagging the 100 lb angle iron "ice cutters' onto the upstream pilings, the good news is all of the squished, blackened finger nails have grown out and are beginning to look human again.

Let me add to that February NECC post total!
I only used the snow blower once as well - and that was so I could get out to attend the Hartford Boat Show...

Just finished adding a ham HF radio to Riverbed but the antenna install will be waiting for the shrink wrap to come off in a month or so. River hasn't frozen once this year and I'm sorta wishing that I hadn't taken out the dock... We've had a few nice boating days this winter.
chriscraft67 Posted - Feb 10 2012 : 17:16:08
I'll log on a February post.

Have only used the snow blower once and here in Connecticut it really hasn't been all that cold. Have been chugging through my winter list. Had the heat exchangers boiled out and have now reinstalled them. Am half-way though changing the exhaust risers. Hope to finish them next weekend. Then the easy stuff, like installing LED lighting in the Admiral's galley.

Having said all that, it will probably snow tomorrow but who cares? It's only 60 days (or perhaps a little more) to getting back in the water.

Tim, I am not familiar at all with Volvo engines. A dealer up there would be the place to ask.
SteveG Posted - Jan 02 2012 : 22:15:31
Certainly doesn't feel like winter yet.
TimHenn Posted - Jan 02 2012 : 20:15:17
Nice Pic -- two thing I love, boats and beer :)

I do believe we'll all remember why we shrink wrap in a week or two but so far it's been a very nice winter.

George, what are we talking about for block heaters for Volvo D9's (575hp)? I would love to have the option to winter later, launch early or even stay in but not as far south...hmmm. That would be interesting indeed. Do you know a manufacturer or should I be looking at Volvo add-on accessories?

Riverbed Posted - Jan 02 2012 : 15:22:19
I'm thinking that I never should have shrink-wrapped!

Spike - when's the show - I'll come on down and see your restoration!
caltexfla Posted - Jan 02 2012 : 15:13:56
Tim, I'm serious about the block heaters. A must have. Your engines will love you for it, and cold weather boating is a snap with them.
TimHenn Posted - Jan 01 2012 : 20:37:52
hehe, your killing me George,
If I stuck to my plan I would flying to Savannah tomorrow to complete my trip to West Palm and then I wouldn't be worried about "block heaters"....ah well, maybe next year.

Enjoy the weather just don't tell "us" about it all the time :)
caltexfla Posted - Dec 31 2011 : 17:17:12
Get some form of block heaters for your engines.

Then next year, move south for the winter and early spring.

Beautiful two days here anchored out in Cape Lookout, nice safe and sane place to spend New Years.

New Year's morning edit: make that three days, sunny and calm here in the Bight. You know, we're just a day's drive from NYC...

In late March, have a Nike moment. Just do it.
HOGAN Posted - Dec 31 2011 : 16:19:15
55 degrees today, we could should have been out on the water.

Happy New Year!
SPIKE Posted - Dec 31 2011 : 16:03:02
Happy New Year Tim. Glad you are wrapped and waiting for Spring. We are waiting too, but know March is early - at least for us.

If you are around - come see us at the Hartford Boat Show in late January. My Chris will be displayed for her debut after 10 years of restoration.

Cheers!
