How do you visually tell if your risers need replacment or is it a water flow test? Same for the manifolds. Thanks. |

That reminds me, I want to call Al Prisco and get him over to the boat with his Thermal Imager. THIS sounds like an easy way to tell if the manifolds/risers are working properly. |

They still make the manifolds/risers for the 351 but there is only one style. The kind with the rectangular riser mating surface. People have complained of uneven clamping with that design. |

Do they still make an aftermarket manifold and riser for the 1989 OMC 351 engine. If not, surely there has to be some type of retrofit. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Water flow test can tell you a multitude of potential problems.
Best to replace at safe periods according to your type of boating...not when you start blowing steam. |

You can't effectively view them unless they are obviously bad. Best to replace on a schedule. Cleaning them to get more life is a super way to ruin an engine. |
