Posted - Apr 16 2012 : 19:22:01 I have a 1986 115hp evinrude that keeps blowing the fuse on the engine from the starter solenoid to the key switch. The engine keeps running but i lose all power to gauges and key switch,if i turn off the engine it will not start again . it takes a couple of seconds before the fuse blows. If i remove the wire from the key switch that goes to the voltage regulator the fuse is ok. Does this indicate voltage regulator- the wiring diagram shows this wire going to stator from regulator.I also were having issues with the tach sometimes working then not is this related? Any suggestions? |

Posted - Apr 17 2012 : 13:02:59 I don't have a manual or diagram but have worked on a few of these. What I can say is that the tach on most of them measures flywheel alternator cycles (not crankshaft RPM) and then translates cycles to RPM for you to read. So if the Tach or its wiring is shorted, I can see how the tach itself could relate to your issue. |
