Bringing home my new to me Silverton 45C. My emotions are running wild, everything from Happiness to being scared to death. This boat is a freaking beast, not to mention it has so many systems that I have never even seen before.

Feel good that some fellow friends and BE members are going to help me, Mark, Dave and Rob.

I swear that I feel like this is the first time I ever was on the water, how weird is that?

Anyway wish me luck, I will need it :)

Congrats Walter, she's a gem.

And a nice bow pole for the BE ensign to fly on!

Walter, congratulations. That is a very nice boat and by now you would probably agree that the bigger they are, the easier they are do drive. Have a ball.

Docking the boat seemed to be easier, once I get use to the "electric shifters" I think it will be easier than my gas 34C. I had a problem docking her because I thought on of the motors was in neutral while in reality it was still in gear.

Sorry Andy, missed this.

Boat Cruises at 21MPH and burns 34GPH. Top Speed is 30mph rb2rb2@gr5tgr5t 56 gallons per hour
The Volvo ECF shows this info

Thanks for sharing your "event" with us all.

It is nice to have the BoaterEd guys around.

Wish I had the same here...

There are only two others locally and we are spread out over the county.

Congrats on your success.

Andy,
Cruise I believe is 2180 RPM, at 21 MPH and burns 34GPH. I think this is the best cruise based on a buddy of mine that owns the same boat. Think WOT is around the 2800 range and top speed is 30MPH. Ask again in a few more trips, I will then be more accurate on my findings.

Thanks again all, it was a blast.

Walter - congrats - the new ride looks beautiful.

Tony - it was funny that we were all out on the water at the same time - and BTW its Ted36m not Ted38m - next thing you know you'll be having ME buy a bigger boat :-)

Mark,
Are you saying I talk too much?

Boat ran flawlessly and trip was awesome.
Walter did good overall once he got used to the electronic shifters.
Boat does not get pushed at all in the wind and the bite in the water is huge.
Churned a little mud at the entrance to the marina but that will go away as more boats run over it. Boat pushes alot of water.

Funny, I want one but I don't want one. It's alot of boat but the engine room is just so freaking awesome!! To me, that is the best part of the boat for some reason. The room down there is amazing.

lanbuilder Posted - Apr 23 2012 : 10:18:53
She looks like a great boat. Congratulations. Now you have had time to digest the trip and the initial exitement has worn off a bit please tell us how you found handling a larger boat.

David,

Yes. That was me and yes, it was going on Walter's card.

Regardless, flawless ride home and Walter was smiling too.

BTW, John never smiles in pictures and Rob is going for the "tough guy" look. Dave was probably talking.

Very nice shots Walter. I'm assuming the fellow pumping the fuel is smiling because it's going on your AMEX!

Fair winds and following seas for many, many hours.

Walter,

Anytime. That was a great ride with great company.

All the best with the boat. She is a beauty.

Thanks for the nice pictures. You were certainly prepared crew wise. I like the the black fenders. That's one way to keep them from showing dirt and scuff marks. Here's wishing you many happy days of boating.
walterv Posted - Apr 22 2012 : 21:22:52

Special thanks to my crew and good friends, from left to right. JohnC, RobSki, CurrentSea, Mintregila.
Everyone worked like a fine tuned machine and went there own way once on the boat, they all had their hands on everything on the boat, turning systems on, checking fluids, setting up GPS, handling the lines, etc, etc. I didn't even ask anyone to do anything, pretty amazing and it made me feel real comfortable.I just stood there and watched them :)
Thanks again John, Rob, Dave and Mark.

RobSki, Checking things out

Cograts Walter. She looks large and beautiful like my ex girlfriends ..........

Safe seas!

At this point, Id worry about the crew more than the boat or weather! Sitting on train, Hudson is flat az a pancake, no clouds in the sky, an awesome day for a cruise....make sure to go straight home now, lol! Sounds like a blast...im jealous!
Audrey II Posted - Apr 21 2012 : 07:50:01
Glad to hear all went well! Looks great. Is the old boat staying next to you or have they simply not taken delivery yet?

Yup, I'm familiar with that boat -- you got a great boat and based on a previous post from the owner a good deal. The decking is completely custom/unique for this boat, very nicely done. You should enjoy every moment. If you ever need to compare notes give me a shout.

Walter, good luck. You should enjoy the 45c, she handles very well and cruises through most seas very nicely. Like others would love to see pictures. what year?

Have a great shakedown cruise, looks like the weather is cooperating for you.

Watch out for John trying to get you take a spin out to the canyon!
walterv Posted - Apr 19 2012 : 14:37:07
Thanks for all the well wishes. The good news is I just found out the boat only draws 41", I had this 46" number in my mind, think it was because of the IPS boats I was looking at.

Yes Andy, I do have a good crew and also just found out JohnC wants to come as well.
Yes Greg, you are correct about waxing the boat, that Makita was only used once before I gave it to you, and that was just for the hull. I did try to do the topside, but then realized being fat, having an electrical device in my hand over the water and not having great balance, was a disaster waiting to happen :)

And yes all we will take lots of pictures and post them when we get back.

Walter
