Ive got an icon hh VHF, about 5-6 years old. I can't get it to charge. Time for new? What kind of hh radios do you use?

I have a Standard Horizon (I think it's 851). Great unit. Floats, and has GPS built in. So an emergency DSC call gives everyone your exact location.

I have standards, the one with the built in GPS and DSC is pretty cool - when my kids are running around I can keep track of them on the chartplotter (hooked up to my fixed Standard DSC radio).

I have the Icon that floats and is waterproof. I also have a Garmin Handheld GPS that does the same.
If it is handheld, get something that floats and is waterproof. Sooner or later, it will go over the side.

Get a replacement battery. My VHF Handhelds are all about 5 years old now and I just got replacement batteries over the winter.

I have used this place to replace batteries in my HH, they are very good.

Agree with Bill. If it's still a good unit, just get a new battery. A battery is a lot cheaper than a new radio.

Perhaps you can get a new battery for it. I use Standard and Icom mostly.
