what i did was go through a dictionary of boating terms and try to meld something from there with one of my likes/hobbies. im a rutgers fan, so i named mine "scarlet knots"... :-)

For a Floyd song, I would go with either Comfortably Numb or Learning to Fly.

"Crazy Diamond"... I like it... but I know my wife won't.

Took us 2 days to name our son after he was born... we were going to call him Nicholas... but when he came out he didn't look like a NIck (whatever that looks like). So 2 days later he officially became Alec. Lia took about 24 hours to name her.

I just received my paperwork to fill out for vessel doc and state reg so I have to come up with a name by the end of the weekend.

Will post when "we" decide.

There was a thread awhile back with everyone telling the name of their boat and why they named it. Bottom line whatever you think is right for you. I always look at the names and wonder what it means to the owner. There are some very creative names out there. Mine is Hydrothearpy...because that is just what it is.

So I'm not the only one!

My all time favorite song with perhaps the greatest etherial sounding guitar solo ever. The song conjures serenity in my mind... always has.

I love the way that solo sounds on the live albums. When David first starts it, you can see the emotion he puts into the solo and then watch him as he comes back together withthe band. Awesome stuff. You cant go wrong with any of these song titles, the problem would be which one fits your boating mood the best...

Winning or Tiger Blood

How about "No Title"?

Given all of the above, how about, "Indecisive".
Shadowcruzr Posted - Mar 15 2011 : 08:34:53
I love the Pink Floyd songs. Regardless of the songs meaning, what does each song mean to you and how do you feel when you hear the name or the song? the one that strikes the most meaningful chord for you should be the one.
FOr example, I chose Comfortably Numb. WHy? Because not only is it one of my favorites, but everytime I hear it it reminds me of my wife and son and that they both love the song and listen to it together often. Good times.

My boss wanted to buy a Donzi go fast. His wife gave him the OK as long as he named it after her. When he finally picked the boat up he told her to wait at Ego Alley (public dock in Annapolis) and he'd pick her up there. When he came into Ego Alley and swung the boat around so everyone could see it broadside where it was named "She's A Bitch". He swears this is a true story and he is still married. I've met his wife.... the boat was properly named.

Oh, BTW, he no longer has a boat!

Thi9s is the choice I like.

Most of those songs are about sad events. If you want to use a PF song I would choose an instrumental like Interstellar Overdrive or Quicksilver.

My daughters names are Leighann and Kimberli hence Miss KimberLeighann

Well, all the names above, except for Alec Lia, are Pink Floyd songs that I like. Alec Lia seems to make the most sense as I say it every day... and sometimes, with a clear and stern voice (as in "Alec and Lia, if you don't stop fighting... you're both going to be sorry") that might be useful in a distress call.

Part of my boat negotiation with my wife I promised her if we got another boat we'd name it after her (Samara). We are naming our new to us boat "Lady Sam". I keep telling her if we'd get a bigger one we could fit her whole name, but she's not budging...

Think I'll name my next boat, "Other".:-)
Gregory S Posted - Mar 14 2011 : 18:34:09
"other" seems to be the winner.

How about "To the moon Alice" from the honeymooners?
Bliss Posted - Mar 14 2011 : 17:48:07
Reread Maxwell. Also, scan through "The Daily Racing Form' for some inspiration.

Just keep in mind that it needs to flow well and be clearly heard on the radio. IMHO simpler the better...

OK, first choice listed is now Alec Lia instead of both names combined.
