Project Description: Creating a prototype of a combination printer and scanner. Project Length: Approx 8-months +- I need someone who has been in the business and understands printers, scanners and paper paths. We need to produce a static model (shape of device and SLA case parts) immediately. We understand the technology and have some concepts....we're just shorthanded and need some expertise help. Below is some additional info as to what we're after skills wise:
Senior Mechanical Engineer The engineer will take a lead role and focus on ground up development of printers, scanners and associated peripherals used in the financial and transaction business. Responsibilities: Design, modeling and specifications of transaction mechanisms. Work under general supervision with a broad scope of responsibility Work in a cross functional team environment Interface with marketing on specifications and schedules Cost and margin goals related to design Hold design reviews. Prototyping Direct technical effort of engineers and designers Write test plans for various sub components of the design. Product qualification and transfer to production Requirements: BSME required, MSME and or PE a plus Minimum of ten years of experience working with electro-mechanical devices Proven track record of efficiently and effectively solving problems and designing products. Knowledge of use Pro Engineer Wildfire 3.0 and Wind-chill Ability to do analysis using FEA and DFMA (design for manufacturing and assembly) Expertise in the design of plastic parts and choosing appropriate materials Expertise in the design of sheet metal and metal components Expertise with gears, belts, rollers, stepper motors and solenoids Expertise with paper handling and paper tracking in printers and scanners Familiarity with impact, thermal and inkjet print heads Knowledge of GD&T practices Ability to lead projects using MS project a plus Familiarity with MICR, CIS and card readers a plus
