I have a gun kit, but I need to order more flares. I am sure mine are expired.

You can buy new flares and put them in the canister. The canister has more than just flares, off the top of my head it includes visual signaling devices and back up audio device, (a whistle)

The canister keeps all your safety stuff in one place.

I have 2 or 3 of these red cannisters with expired flares.

I cannot give them away. If anyone wants them PM me.

If bought in '05, they are "expired" for inspection purposes although they are usable if needed.

Actually they are not "required to be updated every three years". You can keep and use them for as long as you want. However, you cannot use them to meet the requirement to have fresh signaling devices on the boat.

Flairs will work for more then three years but they are required to be updated every three years.

I'm thinking that they are only good for 3 years..

Good Question. I don't have them home to check, but I do have the receipt dated 5/19/05. I opened the can once when I bought it and again for the picture. If you can wait till Sunday, I'll check the expiration and get back to you.
