I hope I'm right, otherwise, I'm illegal at night.

Bob, your boat would be legal for required night lighting if it came that way from mfg. All Larsons are built to the specifications required at the time of manufacture.

IMO while the all-round light is permissible, the masthead and stern light combination will interfere less with your vision.

Willie, true, but often not possible if powered by O/B. For I/O and Inboard, the split combination is a good one.

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible... I've seen (even owned one) outboards with the stern light mounted on the engine cowl, and the 20 point masthead light mounted on a pole-light pole on the console.

My current fishing boat is a little simpler, I put an all-round light on top of the bimini; at night it's so well screened by the bimini you can't even tell it's on without checking. I love it; only issue is I have to leave the bimini up at night (not a problem for me).

But Willie, the best part of boating at night is glancing up at the stars every once in a while. How do you do that with the bimini up?

Stick your head out the side? Look forward and up?

Glancing up at the stars can be very rewarding as long as your not currently driving the boat at the time.

Yeah, too much of a distraction to lean up and/or around to catch a glimpse. Without the bimini, you can steal a quick look while driving. How else will you know which way you're going if you don't watch the stars at night?
