Have fun! Skip is a great guy and you will learn A LOT!!! My wife and I did the training for our 4460 and we learned so much in those two days it was almost overwhelming. After we had a day or two to absorb it all, it was the best time we could have spent getting to know our boat from front to back. It made our ownership much more fun and relaxing to be able to find things, and know how they should work vs. looking in the book and then trying to figure it out for yourself.
Remember...there are no stupid questions. If you are not sure, ask! And don't forget to have fun.

When you purchase a new Regal sports yacht model from a dealer, included in the price is hands on training down in FL with Captain Skip on the model boat you are purchasing. Shows you all the systems, how to use them and some on the water training as well. Most times you can also visit your boat as it is being built.
It's a nice touch, esp if you are a northern boater and need a boating fix during the winter...

Looked at one of the older brochures, (2005) and it says 4260 & 3880. So I guess it's 4080 and up...
Just found a pdf of the 2008 brochure and this is what it says....
"Before you take delivery of your new Regal Yacht, use one of ours to practice on.
Regal Pre-delivery Rewards Program:
The vast unknown that exists aboard any new boat when you board for the first time is, even for the most experienced yachtsperson, a challenging situation. All the new systems, the location of everything, how the boat operates, new electronics, new engines, new generator, new heads... you’re entering a new world and it can be intimidating. That’s why we have a program that eliminates the unknown, relieves the stress and suitably rewards you for choosing a Regal Yacht.
Here’s what you need to know, to know everything: In St. Petersburg, Florida, Regal yachts and a professional captain/instructor are made available to owners, prior to taking delivery of their yacht. The Program is designed to provide all the knowledge and confidence you will need to take the helm of your new yacht and it is custom tailored to meet individual needs and level of experience. You and your crew will get to know all the systems and how they operate. You’ll cruise around St. Pete, living on the yacht. Everything you need to know, you’ll know, before you take delivery. The Regal Pre-delivery Rewards Program is more than a fun learning experience, it’s the prelude to an exceptional ownership experience."
Doesn't say anything about specific models....

Billfish Congrats on your Regal purchase! Let us know all about the captains course. Commonmedic, Congratulations on your Regal 4060 purchase! I have an 04 3860 with 8.1 Merc v-drives. It is a great boat, same basic hull and layout as your 4060. From everything I've heard and read about the IPS drives your going to love them! I'm glad Regal stepped to the plate for you. Be sure to let us know how that goes. I'm jealous of both of you I bought mine 2nd hand so no course for me; at least until I upgrade to the 5260 ;)

The captains course from Regal is a very valuble source of information for any boater! The captain of which I had was the best captain Skip Shepard. I didn't have the best understanding of plotting a course from paper charts to the Ray chart, and now I can plot a course to have my auto pilot take me wherever I want to go. Very cool. I belive this program is for all yatch, however it is taught on the 4460 with IPS WOW. Can't say enough about the IPS. Docking is no longer an issue with any level of experience. When paired up with Volvo diesel you have a group of gages that you can end up traveling 2.5 miles per gal. WOW. The next thing that was obvious was the way the boat pulls instead of pushing. I was lucky that Skip had a friend at the marina who let us use his 3880 2006 at the dock only. Over all I was very please that I bought a Regal.

I was very impressed with his knowledge. I belive the IPS on the 4460 is going to really WOW you. I couldn't belive how nice they performed in docking and on the go as far as keeping the boat level and efficiently. Have lots of fun and don't forget to go through the Regal plant it is well worth your time.

I called Capt. Skip today. He was at the Miami show and things were looking good for 08' I signed up for his course in the middle of April. I just ordered an new 4460 with IPS. We will take the factory tour on Thurs. and drive to St. Pete to stay on the same boat for a couple of days while learning the systems of the boat. He will taylor the experience to your specific needs. I just think that that can be nothing but great! I have not heard of other manufacturers doing anything even near this. Regal has a great idea here! There is something to say for a mediam sized family owned co. to do bus. with. Some of the manufacurers you just kind of get lost in the shuffle.
Cant wait til spring!

Oh my aching head,I need to support the noggin with both hands now that its filled with some of Skips knowledge.Does anybody know if he has stock in vaseline or Peroxide, sounds like they take care of everything from stinking to sticking. What I do want to say is I appreciate and respect more, the knowledge that a good boater should have and needs. The funniest part of the training was my wife really enjoyed charting, and she now wants a pair of binoculars with a compass.Any body know of a good site for binoculars, her birthday is coming up.I will have to put on hold the chainsaw I thought she would like until next year. With Skip doing the trainng of my wife driving and docking the 44 foot IPS boat,I was able to have a beer.It helped keep my mouth shut and improve the experience for my wife ( KINDABIGFEATHER).With the winds 20mph from the south it made for what I would have considered a challenging docking scenario, but with Skip coaching Sue she quickly learned to dock the boat.IPS = BOATING MADE EASIER AND MORE ENJOYABLE. If you get a chance take Regal up on the offer, you everything to gain and nothing to loose ,unless you go to the Casino and Dog track, but thats another story.

We just got back from our course with Capt. Skip as well and enjoyed the two days on the 4460. I agree with the Vaseline and Peroxide comment but don't forget the duct tape. Skip's Tips were very helpful and we found him to be a great instructor.
Although I agree the IPS 4460 was definitely amazing, we took a factory tour and saw the 5260 with IPS. It's pretty sweet. I highly recommend the tour and the two day course if you haven't done it yet. You'll learn a lot.

They, being Regal seems to get it.My feelings are they provide a family type business that will attempt to resolve any issues to the best of their ability. Their facility up here has allowed me to come into their show room and take over.My three dogs and I have been showing up the past 4 days polishing and waxing in a nice warm clean facility.Any little blem I have found they have resolved very quickly. I am not a fan of black hull boats,of course thats what I bought. But I will say as I near the end of prepping the boat,It sure is Pretty,I can read a news paper off the reflection. So as the clock nears nine o;clock I will prepare for another day of wax on wax off.I may be Nauti but the boat sure is Nice.

Skip states that the forward birth can get a little pungent if the airconditioner below the rack is not kept clean. So he states that we should dump half a bottle of peroxide in the drip pan of the condensor. The fluid will travel down the tubing in the sump and be pumped out.Cleaning the entire system. The vaseline is to be applied to the inside of the female snaps on the canvas. This will allow for easier snapping.Another skip tip,use sealander products only.It was developed to preserve all the seals.I will have to go to my notes for further Skipism. My wife wants a compass binocular after learning to chart.

Skip also stated that you can apply Vaseline to any O-ring or gasket to keep it from drying out. A little Peroxide in the bilge would be OK as well. Basically he wants to prevent anything "Green" from growing in any of the standing water areas.
I highly recommend the binoculars with an internal compass. Usually they also have a built in rangefinder. Get 7x50's as anything more powerful is overkill for marine use.

I just got back yesterday from visiting the factory and spending a couple of days on the 4460 with Capt. Skip. I must say it was time well spent. At the factory I was able to see my 4460 in production. It is amazing the way the process works. I can feel very good knowing that the skill level of the people doing the building is quite high. It seems they have all been there for ever. They know their jobs. The time with Capt. Skip was also extremely helpful! he took us through all the systems that I would be able to monitor. Some of this work would have to be performed by Volvo techs. I feel that when I take delivery of my boat, probably the end of May, I will already be very comfortable logistically with most of the boat. Having a couple of days to use the systems and playing with them have made things feel more at home. Skip Knows that boat in and out. I believe he said he had a hand in designing the boat. I would totally recommend everyone doing the same. It will make all a more educated boater! Looking forward to the Regal experience! Van
