Does anyone have any info on diving in Lake George NY? Were going on our second full summer at Harris Bay and I would like to take the plunge. Theres not a lot of local info because the diving is limited, probably due to the limited season and cold temps.

Has anyone dived there before? What do I need to know about diving the wrecks near the village besides it's cold? Do you know of any dive shops that go there?

The Algonquin. I was born in Saratoga and lived in Lake George in the summer.
I use to have my boat at the Algonquin, its on the west side of the lake about 10 miles going north after you go through the Village of Lake George.
Its a great place to have a cold beer and some good food.
I am sure you have herd of it.

Happy to say I am in Seattle and still boating. That will never go

Good luck and have a fun safe summer boating.

We visit the Algonquin frequently. We keep our boat at Harris Bay, six miles across from the Algonquin. Other than the Boat House restaurant which is challenging to dock at, the Algonquin is the only restaurant on the water one can boat too. Its a nice place for wings/burgers and a cool drink.

I think this guy was looking for a place to Dive ? Not eat. I recall seeing divers down flags all the time when I used to camp on the islands near Bolton landing. Chics Marina was next to the Algonquin. Have not been there for years. Does that marina still exist ? Back in the late 70's and 80's he had a good thing going there.

Chics is still there - although they have stepped back a bit from the go fast type boats and now rent Boston Whalers.

I dive also, but don't know of a dive shop in LG - I think the nearest is in the Albany area.

A little general info: Sounds like Morin's in Glens Falls may be the closest shop.
