I haven't been to Block in 8 years or so, so I could use some help with the following. I am doing a one day jaunt on the Montauk ferry next Monday with my 22 year daughter. Here's the challenge. I want to treat her to a nice place to eat and drink but one where the crowd would be to her liking in terms of "cool" but not be so cool that her Old Man would stick out like a sore thumb. This sounds like an oxymoron but I thought if any group would have suggestions, it would be the LICC (and maybe Mike from the other club).

Hey Gerry, I was just out at Block Island a few weeks ago. Stayed at Champlin's. A great place with good food and good atmosphere is The Oar. $10 cab ride from Champlins where the Montauk Ferry drops you off, it's also within walking distance.

Gerry, if I see you on the LIRR, I can give more incite. But since you are only doing a day by ferry I would suggest Ballard’s It may be a bit touristy but it will fulfill the mix in age groups. In addition it is at the edge of town and you can walk passed many other restaurants like Harbor View and can decide then.

Check out the Ballards Inn website, I think it will fit the bill.. ballardsinn “Dot” Com
