After The Admiral and I looked for over a year, it has finally happened. Last week we closed on a 2006-391 Meridian with the Cummins 380QSB engines. We are so excited to move out of the express and up into a bridge style vessel. Of all the boats we considered, it was a close call between a Regal, Silverton and when The Admiral just fell in love with the lay out of the Meridian, that sealed the deal. Thanks to all of the great RO's on this site that helped to guide us through the process. A big THANK YOU to Tony (a.k.a. Woodsong) for finding us a buyer quickly for our Regal. I am leaving on Wednesday to drive down to Palm Beach ,FL and bring the vessel home. I have hired a Captain and hopefully the wind will lay down a bit and we can get home in about 3 days.

Here are a few pics:

The boat has a small punch-list of items that I will address over the summer. The glass around the bridge is shot which is no problem since we never use glass down here anyway. It has two small dock rash spots that will need attention. The engines have a little over 100 hours and the genny 200. Our next adventure begins.

Very nice boat Neal, congrats.
I especially like the twin chairs on the port side and the dinette up front. I trust you will realy like the bridge comming from an express.
Hope you have a trouble free trip. Have fun!

Congrats on the new boat, and have a safe trip home. Pack a few extra filters, if you don't know the age of the fuel.

Neal-
Never thought to ask you til now but what are you going to name her??? "Perfect Timing" could be her name since it worked perfectly with buyer on your regal closing so quickly and being able to get right into the 391 without having to do the 2 boat owner thing! :)

You're going to love the 391...awesome layout for that size class and you are going to LOVE the liveability of your new ride. Congrats again- you better post a bunch of pics of your delivery trip. For that matter- get in touch with Pascal and do the webcam thing...you could set it up in the salon looking out the forward glass!!

Neal, good luck you guys will enjoy the upgrade to the bridge. Getting a Captain was a smart idea. We did that as well for the initial delivery from Wilmington NC to NY. The peace of mind was well worth the cost, plus we learned a lot. Happy Boating...

Britanic- thanks for the positive note, the salon on the Meridian had the best set up of all the boats we considered. You can easily seat about 10 people in the salon very comfortably, that comes in handy when the summer thunderstorms run through.

CurrentSea- she will not be as fast as the Regal 80 series but she will do ok. Here are the actual tests from the sea trial, the bottom has some heavy growth and one prop has a ding so I feel good that once the bottom and running gear is cleaned and painted and the props scanned she should pick up a little bit: Load = 7 men, 200 gallons of fuel, 50 gallons of water, WOT at 3000RPM, average speed over two runs was 30.1 knots with a combined burn of 40GPH, ideal cruise was at 2400RPM running 24 knots with a combined burn of 30.5GPH.

Dusty Rhoads- I bought 4 extra filters on Friday "just in case" for the trip home.

bhead56-Scott, I will keep contributing to the Regal Owners Forum, I have so many great friends on that board. It was a hard decision to leave the Regal family, they make such great boats, but their direction has turned to producing the "coupe" boats and that does not fit our style. IMHO, a "coupe" boat is just an express with a nice hardtop and lots of glass. In our cruising waters, you really need to height of a bridge boat to enjoy the view if you are cruising in less than a mid-tide. Our tides run about +-8' so during a mid to low tide, in an express, you can not see over the marsh grass.

Woodsong-thanks again for the great job in selling my Regal. As for the new name, it is still up for debate. I like "Perfect Timing" because it truly was as perfect as a boat deal ever gets. Don't take this personally, but The Admiral shot down your suggestion, I think she has some other ideas in mind.

Thanks for the kind words. We think she is a beauty. The layout of the salon and bridge are simple and very functional.

Trip back from FL was completed last week and it was SO cold. I will start a new thread and post some pics.

Thanks for the kind words, it is a great layout. I have started working thru the "punch list" of repair items. I ordered new bimini, strataglass enclosure and bridge cover today to be built and installed my a local team ($5500). Could not get the salon DVD to work so yesterday when I pulled the unit out of the cabinet, there were no cables from the DVD to the TV, that was an easy fix. Icemaker needed a new thermostat, no biggie. I had to replace the port tach for the Cummins SamrtCraft engine system, the port tach acts as the server for the starboard so now all the helm gauges are working. Big project will be next month when I haul-out and paint the bottom and coat the running gear. Also plan to pull the props and have them tuned. After the bottom job then I can start on the fun stuff such as new sound system with iPod connector and new digital TV with surround sound in the salon. PO removed the radar display so I am still debating the replacement of the radar so that is a "maybe" on the punch list. Engines and genny are rock solid, I really love the diesel engines, I know the gas vs. diesel debate has raged for years and I never really understood the passion that the owners of diesel had until now. I am now a diesel fan.
