Next week I will be at BHYC. I am thinking about going over to Tuckerton Seaport on my way out. There seems to be a channel that runs mid bay between BHYC to the western side of the bay. Is that channel ok to use, or should I go down the ICW and go through Marshelder channel? I am in a 33' Chris Craft COHO. I need 3 feet but would be more comfortable with 4 feet. Thanks in advance. eric

Eric:
I've done it both ways but it's many years and many boats since I have. Billy III is very local and knows that area. Hopefully he will see this post and offer some advise.
Good Luck.

Thanks Dom. Looking at the chart I have, it looks like there is enough water either way. Cutting across the bay is definitely the shorter route. Like you, it has been many years since I ran boats in those waters. Back then there were no markers mid bay. The channel was a "local knowledge" type channel. Anyway, I'll be making the trip on Thursday morning this week. I'll have the computer along, so I'll check back in a couple days to see if there are any other words of wisdom from the locals.
Thanks eric

Channel marked sticks, twigs and clorox bottles. Be careful.

I did make the trip. There is a marked channel going from Beach Haven toward the west. It is not on the chart. The western part of the bay in that area is open and averages about six to seven feet deep. Once in that section of the bay, it wasn't difficult to make my way over to Marchelder channel and get into Tuckerton Creek. Coming back was a piece of cake, as I put a bunch of way points into my GPS for the return trip.
