I have a 1999 45 excalibut and the props that where on it where 24 pitch. but the rpm could easliy go about 5000 so i wanted to increase the pitch to 26 to hopefully reduce the rpms. I purchased 2 sets of 26 pitch props , installed them and the rpms are the same and the speed is less which makes no sense. anyone else experince anything like this ? is the prop cavitating ?

First blush says bad tachs, however there is a lot of missing information.

This list is not all inclusive.

Engines?
Inboard?
I/O?
5K rpm so I'm assuming gassers. What is the engine MFG recommended WOT?
What were the original props?
Are the engines modifed in any way?

etc.....
