Can any one help?

A friends boat was broken into and he needs to find a new lock for the door. Here is his email to me:

Thanks Scott

"As you may or may know, my boat was broken into last month and I have been dealing with Boat US and waiting for the Marina to get back to me with a quote for some salon work and for a salon door lock - well they just got back to me and it seems that they can not order the parts for the salon door as Mainship / Silverton / Lurhs is on a furlough for 60-90 days as of Feb 6th LOL - can you believe that??? I didn't so I went to their site and found out they actually are. And their contractor for the cabin salon work that is needed is booked solid and doesn't know when he can get to me??

I had a contact in Fla for my Mainship Silverton parts in the past but his line has been busy for the last couple weeks so I think he went out of business or he is on furlough a well. LOL So, anyone know where I can get a salon door lock for an 88 Mainship - these are the same looking salon door locks as the Silverton line."

Did you try the Silverton parts place in Millville, NJ? You can also try a place such as Outwater Hardware and look for the part online.

Any idea of what brand of door lock it is? Alot of boats use the same equipment and can help your friend out.

Silverton Parts is closed, too, but I did just see a note on the SOC site that Doreen is supposed to be back to work on 5 March. (That's much earlier than the announced 60-90 furlough period.)

I think our door lock/keys are Mobella, but for the OP it would depend on what Silverton and Mainship was using in 1988. If there's a brand mark (e.g., perhaps Southco, as Dusty says), that would lead to an easier way to search other suppliers.

Try Taylor Made Products. They made many items for Silverton over the years.

if it's an older boat, it could be an Adams Rite lock. We get those from Carver as they used them in the 1980's on sedan boats.
