They need to address the rat infestation first.

No, I mean rats! Friends of ours went down there for a weekend and said there were rats everywhere.

That's the first I've heard of rats. I've been there with my own boat 4 times over the last three seasons. I go there about 10-15 times a year for scuba trips on the local dive boats and I visit the area a few times just driving through. I've never seen a rat there. I don't mean to say that they aren't there...I've just never seen one. There are a few garbage bins in the parking lot that the local fishing boats discard there kill in...so I could see where a food source would be.
Sandy K from here on boatered keeps his boat there. Hopefully he'll comment.
Either way, I hope this works out well for the area.

+1 on the rats I saw it first hand and I couldn't get out of there quick enough. The Seagulls drop shells on the dock to crack them open then the rats come to eat the left overs. The fake wood dog cut outs don't fool anyone. I was the only transient there when I was there I guess they don't have much of a mid week crowd. I felt very uncomfortable being on the dock alone at night the only people around were locals not boaters they fish from the pier and it looks like some of them did this not for enjoyment but to put food on the table for the family. Not the crowd I'm used to hanging out with if you get what I'm saying. I was bored and grossed out so I left early and have no plans of returning anytime soon. This said the members docks looked nice and I'm sure it would be a nice place to keep your boat if you lived in the area. The shuttle is a nice touch but it wasn't running during the week. Sorry I have to give it two thumbs down as a transient spot. Maybe I would feel differently if I went on a weekend and with a few other boats. Real nice docks well built! But one last thing the dam fishing boats coming and going were stirring up a wake and blowing their horns at all hours just didn't do it for me.

The second boat looked like no one had been on it in weeks.
