The mention of picking surviving crew from rocks indicates to me that this may have been the result of a necessity to prepare to tack at this course mark. I can't imagins so many crew being unsheltered in heavy seas otherwise. This "news" won't make it to the East Coast so I hope our California brethern will keep an eye open and report the situation whenever.

Cheers!

Thanks for the tip. I read several posts. My worse fears confirmed.
