I checked the NYS Canal website and they don't seem to have any current information posted. I drove by part of the Mohawk River last week and it was extremely low. Many of the flood gates, damaged in the flooding last fall have been removed but not replaced, so there doesn't seem to be anything to hold water in the system. I'm curious if anyone has heard anything about a tentative opening date for the canal. I've got friends coming up the east coast and I'm trying to get some intel for them.

Thanks
Dave

Info is not yet posted, If you go to notices to mariners on the NYSCS site there is an email option for updates and canal status.

Thanks Gary. I'm signed up for that. I was hoping, as is often the case, there might be an RO that had some "inside" information.

Try emailing Pete Bardunias, he is in the area, an RO here and heads up the local Chamber of Commerce

The water is low because the gates are open and there is no snow runnoff this year. The water will come up as soon as they close the gates. They claim that they will open as scheduled this year.

Great news, I have a dockominuium purchaser sitting in Kingston awaiting the opening.
This will get them underway a little earlier than expected.
