I thought the salvage had already been awarded to a different company .. I guess maybe they just got the gig to remove all the liquids.

It has been laying there for about a month with no activity. I guess they don't care about a big storm shifting the hull off the shelf in to deep water. The longer you wait the more risk you have.

This is not a quick and easy task. Mucho governmental influence and detailed planning involved. You can bet that they do indeed "care about a big storm.." Prime tourists territory, natural beauties, together with lottsa local political worker bees buzzing around.

Cheers!

I'm taking a guess here, but I'm guessing the locals are drooling over this ship being floated.
Think of all the tourists who will flock to the area to watch.
There's probably already been a big uptick in tourism just to see the ship laying on its side.
I wouldn't get on an airplane to go see it, but if I lived a couple hours away, I'd probably drive there for a quick look.

How can they expect to have vacant hotel rooms? Maybe many people have been there done that.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down "happy." They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~John Lennon
