We have been using interlux Micron Extra or CSC for about 10 years now. We've not put a coat on the whole bottom in a few years now, and it's time. So I am wondering which other products people have used in salt and how they hold up and prevent growth of all sorts.

I'd ask around what people are using down there, Dan,(assuming you are still "down there") I have had great luck with Seahawk Cukote here in NC, and have been keeping the boat in a warm water and strong current location that propagates a LOT of growth--animal and vegetable.; leave a fender touching the stare for a couple days and all sorts of stuff is hanging on its bottom. After two years, mine could go another one or two, but I am having it touched up anyway. Using the boat a lot and having a diver come regularly probably helps.

The reason I opened this was because Americans are willing to pay quite a bit to have the bottom done over here vs. the U.S.. I believe this is due to the bottom paint additives that have not been outlawed over here. I don't have any experience with the brands they use but I am researching it. I expect a bit of growth given we are quite sedentary once in the harbour. Of course getting out and moving the boat helps keep the bottom clean but I was looking for the best performing paint people were using in warm Southern climates.

There was an article in one of the boating mags 2 or 3 months ago. It is a hard ablative. The down side is you have to run the boat at 14 knots once every 14 days for it to work. The article told of a hauled hull after 4 or 5 years following the mfg. instructions and it was as clean as the day it launched. At >$650 per gallon I would hope so.
I can't speak to further south than VA, however the best luck most have here is the cheapest stuff WM sells at $130 per gallon. It is 40% cuprous. It looks great after 2 seasons with normal use. You can stretch it to three seasons here.
I'm on my third season and will dive the hull to see if I can get another season. Reason being I am hauling in the fall and having her blocked beside my house. If she is not too bad, I don't want to pay for two hauls if possible.

John, You always talked about this paint, however now I think I'm sold. That is the best video . That yacht they were painting was beautiful. I think I have seen that yacht before, oh, and the girl looks nice too.

I wanted to use SSB this year. Called twice and was told that they weren't making my color for a few weeks and call back. Called back got the same response. I think they mix it up in their backyard.
Paint looks like a winner though.

Actually mixes it in his garage, at least that is what he did before he moved to Florida....I have used it on both my boats and it works as advertised.

I have never used this, but Blue Water Marine Paint is supposed to work very well. Their Copper Shield SCX 45 contains 45% copper and it's about $80 less per gallon than Micron Extra.
Just google the name. The brand is carried at quite a few online stores.

Yes, that is the only downside I've come across with them. You really need to plan well in advance with them. I've had orders damaged in shipment as well which delayed delivery as well.
But it is great paint. The current paint has been on for over 3 years and I'm finally gonna pull the boat next week to redo. Hopefully I'll be there when they pull and take some pictures. Every short haul I've done has shown the paint holding up amazingly well.
And yes, their ad is very informative!
