When I put my boat away for storage last fall the Raymarine C120 Chartplotter/GPS worked fine. I just got it out of storage last weekend and the C120 is locked up.

When I turn it on it goes to the startup screen and sits there. None of the buttons are responsive - can't even turn it off without killing power to the unit. I've tried the factory reset and still nothing. I've asked around, including Raymarine, and it sounds like I need to send it in to Raymarine for service.

Before I do, has anybody experienced this, and if so, what was the fix?

Thanks!

I would hook it up in a another boat and make sure there is no chip in it and see if it starts that way. could be a bad ground in your connections, a bad avionics card, could be a bad GPS antenna or Sounder unit.

Trouble shoot first before sending to Raymarine.
check Ebay for a C120 the prices are coming down. Might be cheeper then repair.

Have you tried this?

Forget about backing up the unit it sounds like that won't happen. I would skip that part if it doesn't respond.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to try to disconnect all Seatalk connections, etc and power up with only the power cord hooked up to see if I get any changes, but somehow I don't think I will.

Billy - I've looked there and spoken to Raymarine tech support on the phone, and I've pretty much gotten the answer that it needs to be sent in. Simply hoping for one last ditch effort before I remove it and send it in.

I understand you spoke with Raymarine tech services but did they have you try a master reset?

Billy - yes, as mentioned in my original post, I've tried the factory reset and it has not changed anything.

Thanks.
