Can anybody tell me about how far it is from kentucky lake / tn river (pebble isle marina, new johnsonville tn aprox 100 miles north of picwick) to destin fl is?

Also is there any apps that can tell you how many miles etc?

And one more thing.. About how much gas would it take in a 2001 carver 391 with twin gas?

Just looking for approximents not exacts.

600 - 700 miles is approximate.. figure at least one mile per gallon, but you will be going downstream and there are plenty of no wake zones in front of the houses along the Tenn-Tom... if you stop in Columbus, tell Chuck Bigelow, I said hello..

You can use the Active Captain free web site and plot your entire trip on your desktop or laptop computer. It will tell you how many miles total and miles for each leg of the trip.

Just curious. You did say 'houses along the ten tom"? We kept a boat at Midway Marina in Fulton, MS several years ago and at that time there were no houses on the Ten Tom. What areas have built up?

At 8 mph you should get about 2.2 to 2.6 miles per gallon. Approx 3.6/4. gph. This number is under a no current condition and will increase or decrease based on load condition and current. At 16 mph, approx 24/28 gph, or 1.3/1.6 gal per mile.

Capt J, if memeory serves the houses are on the south end, in AL. The trip was 7 years ago... don't remember exactly, but they were definitely below Columbus, MS..

Dust cutter, how did you figure that burn rate? I have a 2001 Carver 356 which is new to me. I'm trying to learn my burn rate. Looking for any help I can get. Thanks.

Where in the world did you come up with figures like that?
I used to have a Carver 3807 with twin Merc 7.4's.
At cruise speed, approx 3200 RPMs, 15 knots, we got less than 1/2 mile per gallon. At hull speed, approx 1800 RPMs, 7-8 knots, we got about 1 mpg. That's way less than 1/2 of your figures.

Having a boat with twin 454s, those figures did seem optomistic!

i made a similar trip on a 30 knot boat a few years back. we started just south of picwick lake. it was four days to panama city. your speed will vary depending on the lock traffic and how many barges/ rover traffic you have to slow down for.

without knowing the particulars of your boat, figure you will be using a full load of fuel each day, or at least what you normally burn in a 10-12 hour day.
