Planning a trip from Oswego to most likely to lake Cayuga. I have the ports type book but can anyone recommend towns and marinas or locks to stay at? Mid July for about ten days. Coming from the trent system. Thanx.

On the Oswego River:
1. Between lock 7 and 8, free tie up, nice park.
2. Fulton, small marina
3. Phoenix - free tie-up, home of the "Bridge House Brats" (this is the best stop on the river)

On the Erie Canal:
1. Baldwinsville, free tie-up

On the Cayuga Seneca Canal
1. Seneca Falls - pretty town, free tie-up

On Cayuga Lake
1. Allen Tremain State Park Marina, Ithaca.

Thanks for the info! So looking forward to the trip but dread the open water on the lake. I know it can be pretty hairy here on the north side that can last for days! Hopefully from Clayton to Oswego will be calm in the mornings.

It's a fun trip I haven't done it in years a bunch of free town docks/walls with water and electric it's a inexpensive vacation! I found it to be very relaxing.

Dave

I just wish common sense was a little more common.

I remember when we went across the lake is was pretty rough. We did it early in the morning from Oswego to Clayton.

On the way back from Clayton to Oswego it was later in the day and was much calmer, so it really just depends on the wind.

Here's a post from our trip:
