I was reading an article about 5 favorite NE anchorages that are out of the way. One of them was between prudence and patience island...there's no much water or room on the chart. Has anyone anchored in there? What do you think? A good swimming hole? Access to a beach?
I'll be going bye next weekend, my stick my nose in there and see if it's bigger than it looks on the chart.

Tim, great question. I've never been in there because it's skinny but I often see people anchored in there just south of the cut. The other reason I haven't ventured in is it doesn't offer a ton of shelter in prevailing SW winds. I don't think there's a beach in there. And I've heard from others that the holding ground is rocky. Curious, what were the other 4 favorite anchorages?

I've anchored there over the years with up to a 36' trawler. Holding is good sand/mud, small rocky/sandy beaches. Beat areas n.e. corner, s.e. close to shore (sm. boats). There's also a small cove on the patience side. Good to explore, fishing at prov. pt., or pine hill. Southerly winds make it lumpy, boy wind usually die down at nite.

Isn't that named Potter's Cove? Been a long time since I lived there. Ping ITK. That's some of his stomping grounds. He'd know.

NE corner, ok, I'll check it out. I draw 4.5 so I should be ok. I know Potters very well, go there for half days swimming, etc.
As to the other 4 anchorages, I left the magazine on the boat. I'll have to look them up and post back.
Thanks!

Thanks for reminding me, I did look them up and put them in my iphone but I forgot to post.
1.) Patience/Prudence Island - I did putt through but the water was too skinny for me to stop and have fun. pretty spot though, good for a high tide swim.
2.) Tarpaulin Cover/Hadley Harbor -- I'd like to go here, never been.
3.) Hamburg Cove, CT -- never been there
4.) ??Osier Like, Cape Code -- iphone must have mangled whatever I typed, not sure what this is
5.) Lubec Narrows, Me -- never been there

I've been to 2 and 3. Both very pretty. Hamburg cove is fresh water which is different.
