Hello, I recently purchased a Shoreline interior dome light style LED light and need some help figuring out how to wire it.

It has 4 red and 4 while LED's, but it came with no wiring instructions or a switch. It just has pigtail wires, one red, one black, and one brown.

Can anyone tell me how to wire this up so that I can switch between red and white?

Thanks,
Steve

Before installing, test this hookup:

Black attached to ground ( ie "-", minus )

Red attached to switched 12v positive ( for white )
Brown to switched 12v positive ( for red )

---

Assuming the above is correct...

You can get fancier, if you wish. Get a "On-Off-On" rocker or toggle switch.

Attache Black to ground.

Attach 12v positive to middle contact of switch.
Attach the red wire to one side of the switch, the brown wire to the last remaining contact on the switch.

This will provide a switch that operates "White - Off - Red"

LED lights require positive and negative be wired correctly.
If not they will not work. Use a meter it makes hook up easier.
We just added two srips of blue LEDs to the boat interior
Looks really cool at night.
Pricy but worth it.

I am into the electric Blue look. I have all the perimeter interior lights in the salon in Blue, 4 cockpit lights in Blue and 2 strip Blue lights on the backside of the ER's airboxes as well as 4 underwater Blue high intensity LEDs. It looks great at the dock and while anchored in a cove or when rafting.
