The SF & Delta Forum is still hanging in there, but it is not what it once was. I don't think we recovered from losing Hal......

So how are things with your big boat going? Are you still living aboard? I remember when you first purchased her; personally, I thought you might be crazy LOL

How about posting a picture or two just for grins?

Sorry Flutterby, I missed this until just now. Yes, been living aboard for several years now and absolutely love it. I lost my engine room when one of my kids graduated from college and couldn't find a job. I quickly converted it to a cabin for her thinking it was a short term thing. Still waiting :) I'll muster up some pics soon. You might remember that I also had a wonderful old Trojan 26' for fishing. That boat has been a real trooper, but I've just replaced her with a Luhrs 29 with a nice old and solid hand laid fiberglass hull. She's a flybridge but has a particularly big deck aft which is great for taking a pack out fishing. A friend of mine here in the harbor -- a party boat captain and former mechanic -- did a re-power on her a few years back and it's immaculate. Fresh water cooling, new Marine Power marinized package at the time, etc. The boat belonged to a retired tanker captain who recently died (he hung out a lot here in the harbor). You wouldn't believe the amount of stuff I pulled off that boat!

Oh yeah, I was crazy to buy the big boat, but it's a happy kind of crazy that's working out wonderfully.

I was sorry to hear about Hal. He really was the lifeblood of the Delta and a great character. Is anyone coming along to fill his shoes -- even just a little?

Take care,

Robert

Remember, if you are going boating -- take your boat. Don't ask me how I know this.

Robert I don't know you yet but welcome back.
I'm not an old timer, I have been here on BE a few years.
I really enjoy the board and helping the Guys and Gals in my area.
Take care,
Bill

Ya know, Rob, I'd forgotten about your Trojan! I suffer from CSR now

Your Luhrs sound wonderful; they are definitely a fishing machine!

I don't read B&D Yachtsman anymore and don't know if Bill Wells is still writing for them. He has done an excellent job of covering the boating aspects of the Delta, but doesn't seem to be as passionate about the politics. JMO. I do stay involved with www.Restorethedelta.org and post a lot of things from them in the Forum. If the Delta loses more water, you can kiss your fishing the Bay and Delta goodbye!

I hope your daughter is able to find some decent employment! Maybe after the first of the year..... And if you ever have any questions about TV/Internet/Radio/Cell on your boats, BillyIII is definitely the go-to guy on BE!!!!
