Greetings again from sunny Acapulco. I need to repower my engines and was thinking of rebuilts. My boat is 1998 model, so I canīt justify buyiing Brand new engines. Does anyone have any suggestions about this? Would it be better to send my current engines to be rebuilt, or swap them out. Are there any gotchas I should watch out for? Anybody have any experience repowering that they could share with me? Any comment at all will be appreciated.

If the rest of the boat is in good shape I don't see any reason that you can't justify buying brand new engines.

Like Robyn, I was wondering what type of power you have now.

Cummins has a decent repower program, they sell factory reconditioned motors at a discount off new.

When I re-powered my highest priority was reliability. So I bit the bullet and probably paid more than necessary, but I had new engines installed. Maybe it's rationalization, but I chalked it up to piece if mind.

WoW, thanks for the quick replies. The boat is in excellent shape, like new actually. I have Mercruiser 8.1L gas engines now. Local dealer quoted me $22K each new engine, and those would be the newer 8.2, meaning Iīd also have to deal with digital/analog issues.

Anyone have any recomendations on where to look for perfect take outīs?, or a good remanufacturer?
