That in itself is pretty stupid but considering there was a small craft advisory for 20/25kts from the north kicking the stream to 8'... you can't help shake your head...

Interesting, let alone Very Fortunately, this operator had a PLB! I guess the USCG decided to emphasize the value of the PLB as opposed to the idiocy of offshore PWC operation. I can understand that, PLB takes the "Search" out of SAR, but still, well out of sight of land on a PWC, OY!

Doesn't say how he got that far offshore.

Nor do we know where that figure came from.

So it's hard to say if he was stupid or unlucky.

And equally as obvious I wasn't speaking to the rescue. Just the circumstances that lead up to the rescue. :-)
