Every year when I get ready to order my anodes I am never quite sure what I should use.

Of course volvo says use Genuine volvo anodes which are 3 times the price of others.

Yes, I understand I have about $100K of metal under my boat, so I want to use what is right but I am on my sixth season of not using genuine volvo and the anodes that came were not genuine.

My boat has 7 anodes underwater. When I put in the volvo part number I get a choice of zinc, aluminum and magnesium. I know the mags are out, that is fresh water, but what to use for salt?

2 anodes on tabs
1 anode on transom for each pod (2)
1 common grounding plate anode on transom
1 pod hub anode (2) pods are nibral

Just curious what other IPS owners are finding?

Last year I used boatzinc anodes and they seemed good. I used all zinc with aluminum for the 2 transom pod ones.

I wish volvo would say what was in their anodes. Boatzinc claims their anodes meet or exceed volvo requirements.

Always used zinc in salt water. Why the question?

Brackish water and I switched to Aluminum, they don't scale over like the Zinc did.

The reason I was asking is because Volvo does use some aluminum.
Was really just curious what others were doing.

I have IPS and use the Volvo anodes. I assume itís probably a waste of money but Iím still under warranty and want to give them zero reason to even consider denying a claim should I have one. Compared to what the boat costs itís a somewhat smaller expense.

I do believe youíre correct and would suck with zinc aside from the ones on the pods. Lemme knownwhat u decide and good luck.

Mantle 107 how do you like the H440. It really is a great concept boat.

Always used zincs on inboards with nibral or bronze wheels, SS trim tabs etc.

Your bow thruster, tabs and common ground plate are standard stuff.

Itís truly been a phenomenal boat. For day cruises we can take a ton of people, and everybodyís comfortable. The bow is tremendous. The cockpit has a great layout and we can use it three seasons. The cabin underneath is finely finished and thereís plenty a room to sleep our family of four. Iím surprised thereís not more of them out there, because it really does serve for multiple purposes and does them all well. Handling wise, itís fast parentheses about 40 kn), and cruises through the chop all day long. The IPS drives have been flawless. Iím usually looking for a new boat before I even get the old one prepped, but not this time.

Itís by far my favorite boat.

I watched the Four winns video on this boat when it first came out and find it to be a great compromise of space. I was on the Formula version at the boat show which had quadruple outboards and loved it. But at just north of 1 million it is out of my price range. Good luck with it and I guess i can dream.

Itís funny....I didnít love the formula when on it. It wouldnít get my money at this point. The headroom made me feel very cramped, even at the helm Iím 6í3Ē and canít spend that kinda money and feel claustrophobic. Great boat but felt too small in the cabin as wel We have young kids and the compromise below was too much. Itís awesome tho if you need a speedboat with quads to break 60mph and spend overnights on.
