After a 9 hr run from BeanTown my new ride is in its home slip at Brewers Sterling Harbor.

It got real snotty leaving Buzzed Bay & in Block Island sound but slowed down to 18Knts & Boat handled the rough well.
I see a lot of fuel being burned in my future as this one wont be a dock mary!

Congratulations Andy. Nice looking boat. Glad to hear that it did well in the rough. When you get time I would like to hear it speed, weight etc before it gets all loaded up.

Thx Guys

Bruce,
Boat weighs 48,500 dry, Add full fuel & water weighs about 56,000lbs
Still need to load up on personal stuff etc

Per GPS stats the Trip was just under 150 miles & took 9hr 37m

Spent about 90min under 10knotís leaving Quincy/getting out to Cape Cod Bay & going threw the CC Canal.

When conditions allowed we cruised at 21/22 knots running around 1900RPM.
Backed down to around 18Knots when really rough

With the wheels that are on the boat know we can reach 27knots at 2220RPM
WOT should be 2250RPM .
Im very ok with its performance & I have a bunch of $ís I need to spend now for a Sat system, some Nav upgrades, oh yea Taxes! After the smoke clears I may have a set of Katapult wheels made like I did for my 50 Cruisers. They should give me 2-4 more Knots threw out the range.
This will help with fuel burn as well

As of now sheís a keeper!

Nice looking boat, congrats!
I feel like I was once in that slip as a transient is that the one with I lovely few of the cemetery? This was the only dock I had trouble reaching with my power cord I was told I had to bow in they said there wasn't enough water for my props. I wonder if they dredged?

Again congrats it looks great!!

After a month+ of trying to get a different slip in my overbooked marina I as able to swap slips with someone that was traveling overseas and wanted his boat in the basin. So instead of overlooking Saint Agnes Cemetery this is my new view:

Im hoping ill get to keep it next year as well

Curious, how is the visibility from the pilot house? I ask because I recently looked at a 2002 570 in Fort Pierce, Florida, and I really liked the layout. I think the 530 and 570 are very similar, so I was wondering how the view from the pilot house is.

I have many questions, but maybe I should start a separate thread or go to a Carver forum, although manufacturer dedicated sites tend to be a little bias (I am a CSR member :)).

Jeff,
Ive been dealing with CRS for years.

Visibility from the pilot house is very good with the exception of the stern. That is compared to my last boat, Cruisers 5000 sedan which was also Pilothouse style. The Carver does have a backup Cam but Iím not used to it yet. So I sometimes go up to the bridge when docking. That being said on the 8+hour trip from Bean town we ran from just the lower helm and I loved it. Much better than trying to see threw Essen glass in the rain. Wipers & defogger are great things to have!!

For the most part the 57 is very much like the 53. Beam, draft, bridge clearance are all the same, just 4 ft longer. So although functionally the same, Iím sure the extra space is nice. Ive been spending a bunch of time(& $ís) upgrading some things and slowing digging into the systems.
So ask away- If you get out to Greenport your welcome to tour my boat, all it will cost is maybe a beer ;-)

Coming from a 410da, I have a feeling the 53 is plenty of boat. I may take you up on the tour, if we head east on our boat in next couple of weeks. I want my wife to see your boat! We have looked at some trawlers, but we donít want a full displacement, 8kt boat (KK), even if we could afford one. Which leads us to a semi-displacement. We want a boat big enough to live on for a few months, avoiding Florida summers. Oh yeah, we are moving to SE Florida. Thanks, Jeff

Jeff

Coming from the 410DA the 530 will seem huge!
Even with small block Cummins or Volvoís youll be able to cruise in the high teens, some owners say 20+knot with a WOT of 22-24knots- not to shabby for a 50K lb ride. Big blocks will get you 4-5knots more.

Make sure you look into slip space, it seems once you go over 50í choices slim down- yet I donít think that would be an issue in SE Florida
