Im about to sell some organs to fund major Electronics upgrade to my 530.
Looking for any OMGs

It will include all Garmin products, from Fantom(Doppler)Radar to AIS & Sonar.
New 8600 MFD on bridge & 2 8600 MFDs on lower helm as well as a mount for 12 iPad to be used as 3rd MFD
XM Weather, Engine gateways to display engine detail on MFDs & a bunch of Cams around the boat/ER. All labor and training..

So, any horror stories on Garmins 8600s or some of the listed stuff?

As I understand it, you only need a single xsv model to get the sonar. The rest of the units can share the sonar data via the Garmin network.

IMO, the Garmin AIS receivers look pretty expensive compared to some other units that look to have comparable functions.

Yup, only need one XSV unit and it shares.
Not sure about the 7600's but with the WiFi of the 8600's you can add an ios or Android phone/tablet and get most if not all functions/displays

Since that's all I've used I'm not sure. if i find i dont like it overlaid i'll just move it to another screen.
That being said I can see advantages to the overlay and look forward to exploring it

I just looked at the Garmin black box AIS units again. I realized they are not only receivers, but transceivers so they broadcast your position as well. I don't think they are quite so overpriced now.

Brad, should have all installed by end of month and let you know how things turn out.

Im also having a 360 birds eye view Cam system installed similar to ones used in late model cars.
hoping it would help with docking etc.
