Tom - Sorry it's taken so long, but here's a close-up of the engine mount in the cockpit. if you would like more pics (maybe without the engine), let me know. the previous owner installed it and it's rock solid. however, handling that motor is tough since it weighs close to 80 lbs. i've since installed a swivel mount on the transom of the dinghy and keep the motor attached there and swung up out of the way (except when the dinghy is off for fishing and, believe it or not, tubing with the kiddies). what you cannot see on the mount is a rod that extends to the right and bolts to the outside of the cabin to provide stability. there's also a bar you can see with a black end on it. that's not part of the mount. it was a bbq mount (so they mounted a mount to a mount).

Pete - Yes, it's the 2 stateroom model and the 2nd stateroom is under the setee. it's cave-like but it's great for little ones (as well as providing a bunch of extra storage space). i believe they only made the 2 stateroom models from 1996 to 1999. that's the year they moved the galley from forward port to aft starboard in the salon and changed over to a full-sized fridge. the boat is layed out great inside and out.

I love the various pic's of these Carvers - someday I'll be able to trade up to one of those beauties. Missing summer already in Michigan, and only rolled her into storage 3 weeks ago...

Here's our 1982 Carver 3607 Aft Cabin. We've been refurbing her for 4 years now. Winter projects, and lots of Summer relaxation time for our old gal!

Refurbed the bridge area since these photos, and looking to install corian countertops inside this winter.

Thx Gnrl
We have a lot of good natured fun with it:

- the Wolverine fans relaxing at the SAND BAR lounge located on the inlet of our marina occassionally have some fun with us. It's common to banter back/forth when coming / going.
- our home is only 15 minutes from "the Big House" and you can imagine the neighbors around here rib me alot about flying the Scarlet and Grey flags and our 8' Brutus waving in the front yard today.

Ooops it's 8am - I have to get busy with Brutus and it's time to put the speakers out. I only have a few hours left before the party starts...
GO BUCKS!

Doug
I picked up both the swivel recliner and sofa from BRAD & HALL in Indiana (you can find them on the web, and in the back of some boating magazines - if not, let me know) and had them shipped home. They have alot of colors and the ultraleather option is very comfortable (my kids fight over who gets the sofa to sleep on). What's also nice about the sofa is it is designed by Flexsteel to disassemble with a wrench. Not sure if you have the same salon opening (slider) I have, but big it's not. You can bring this sofa through the slider in pieces, and reassemble in the salon. Fits perfectly on the wall opposite the lower helm with 6" for access to the wine rack. It has a pull out storage drawer beneath it, and it folds down to sleep 2, so we can put 8 into beds now.

In the summer, when pushed flush against the wall, the front of the sofa clears the center engine room covers. In the winter, if I want to do some engine room work, I drop the dinnette, move the cushions to the v-berth, and lift the sofa through the opening above the wine rack where we can sit it out of the way in the galley area.

Nice boat, Carver. I thought this link might interest you. Last spring we were debating which boat to buy...a Portland boat for less $$, freshwater kept, rebuilt engines or a Puget Sound boat that had the interior remodeled but had manifold issues.

http://tinyurl.com/33wnrl (Pay attn. to the titles)

We bought the Puget Sound boat. The seller paid for much of the exhaust rebuilt. Very happy, so far. I shudder every time I think about the Portland boat.

Tomorrow night, we'll be on it, after a month long hiatus. Can't wait.

Thank you Pete, the area is one of those well kept secrets. The canals are just off the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway about a 30 minute ride to Perdido Pass on the Alabama - Florida line. We kept a 30FT sailboat at a close by marina from 1986 to 2001, sold it and bought the property. The canals back in the late 80's and early 90's were undeveloped and is where we took our boats from the marina when the area was under hurricane warnings.
Ivan came thru here in 2004 with minimal damage to the homes, docks or boats in the canal, however it destroyed the marina.
I expected to have the roof on the boathouse by this time, but the priorities change monthly. The boxes on the dock are my Osco manifolds and riser that I put in.

If there are too many pics, let me know and I'll delete a few of the links. Here is my 3607 that should be picked up in Maryland today, and delivered to Smith Mountain Lake tomorrow. It will replace my Trojan Tri Cabin that sits 2 slips down from Dre's VERY nice Carver 350 Mariner (pictured earlier in this thread).
I'll post better pics once it arrives... some of these are from the previous owner, some were taken by the broker...

I am anxious to get her cleaned up, refinish some of the teak, recover the dinette, etc. All of that work...I mean fun... starts when the boat is delivered tomorrow.

Pete is right. A 40' 3607 is indeed interesting, and probably one of a kind. The big thing, though, is IT'S MINE finaly. Goes back into the water on Thursday.

Here are some pics of the way it looks now (repeating the 1st one I posted earlier). I'd call "it" a "she" but I'm having a hard time reconciling that with her name "MisterB".

Now the fun begins ... updating the interior design scheme, new (any?) furniture, new dinette cushions, upgrade stereo, install the new(2007)electronics that came with her (thru-hull transducer already done, everything else still in the box), new bridge canvas to match aft deck, plus my private lessons before I take her out.

Woo-Hoo!
