2002 Sea Ray 30 SUNDANCER

We had an 05 briefly, she was a little tight for four of us, due to the narrower beam, we then stepped up to the 340 and which was much better, handled better too... keep in mind we pretty much have all four of us every Fri-Sun all season long, so we also have lots of gear... she was a fast boat however w/twin 350 mags...if you day boat, she'd be fine, but with four you may get a little claustrophobic IMO...

good luck!

oops, couple more things, my wife is 5ft 4, I'm 5ft 7 and the forward berth was not nearly big enough, especially if you sleep towards the bow, centerline berths are much better, and climbing over each other in the middle of the night, does not make for a nice breakfast the next morning : ) The head was also pretty small, and showering was really tight.

20 hrs on a six year old boat---NOT A GOOD THING.

For resale, low hours are great. That's because perception becomes reality when so many people think that not using engines is good for them.

It's not.

It also begs the question, why are the hours low?

- PO didn't care enough to bother, or didn't have time
- PO couldn't afford to run it
- PO was scared to run it
- boat wasn't reliable

None are good imho.

I never considered low hours to be a negative, but you're all right 20 hours in six years sounds strange.

But if this is a truely a low use boat that was maintained properly, it seems like a steal at or near the asking price. I guess only a survey and engine check will tell the entire story.

Maintained properly or not, the seals will be dried out and you'll end up with oil leaks. Plan on replacing all of those and then insist on maintenance records to assure the oil was changed at least annually. I'd be worried about corrosion in the "open" cylinder between runs. I'd definitely get a compression check and insist the owner pay for seals, outdrive pressure test and cleaning of the hull if it's been sitting that long. If it's in the water, YUK!!! Hopefully it's on the trailer or on the hard? I'm sure others will have additional experience. You could be looking at a cylinder or two with low compression.

tcontic: Well? Did you make an offer? Did you survery the boat? Did I miss that thread somewhere? :-)
