I was out checking out the new Carver's at the new local Carver Dealer this past weekend - while walking off the docks a MarineMax/Sea Ray salesman shouted out my name (looked at a few of his boats and always make it a point to chat with him at the boat shows)...he gave us a tour of the '08 55' - WOW - what a yacht! Very nice! The full beam stateroom was gorgeous, I also liked the Multiplex controller. Gotta be honest that Sea Rays in general normally don't "do it for me" - BUT - this 55 changed that - seriously - it's that nice! My wife thought the same as well. Price was $1.5 million.

For that kind of $...I'll take the Marquis 59ME...a real yacht, not an express boat

For that kind of money, I will retire and own a bayliner :)

is that the one with 18" between the engines ? and very little space to move around the ER with stuff sprinkled all over ? or is that the 60....

I hate to say it but chances are if youre spending 1.5 mil on that sea ray you will pay somebody small to go in your engine room to work on everything needed....

so... when you're getting a clogged fuel filter on the way back from the bahamas in the gulfstream, you limp home on 8' seas because the engines are too close and too hot ? nice...

or if a battery fails and you need to get to it to swap it, you wait a couple of days for your small mechanic to do it ?

silly, isn't it ?

Walter,

I thought all you guys on L.I made 1.5 every yr just to stay off skid row. :)

Have the web sites started to convert to the 08 models yet ? None last I checked

Walter,
U could have retired long ago....
Whats with the searay bashing.. same stuff just keeps getting recycled... Come up with something new....Then bitch

Rob

it's not sea ray, it's most builders... I was just walking down the dock, and saw a guy nearly break his neack trying to climb over the open engine hatch/rear lounge of a 36' express (I won't say the brand)

seems like some builders appear to forget that when you are down in the engine room, you may have to get to the dock to get something and that if the whole cockpit lifts out, then it's acrobatic time !

i don't see any pic of the ER in that link... and no i dont' take the word of a boating magazine.

but here is a pic of the ER from the 60 footer...

you have to crawl over the batteries to get to the racors... the air cons are behind the engines with no room in between, and very little space, if any, to go between the genny and the mains... this is a 60 footer !!! that's the one where PMY measured 18 or 20" between the mains...

I love Searays. I'm buying a 2008 model in about 10 years. Probably a 310 or a 330.

Keep in mind Bob that the way Sea Ray changes model numbers the 10 year from now 330 is todays 280 which was 10 years ago the 240. Just something to think about.

This one? I saw one of these go cruising proudly back and forth and back and forth by my marina. The water was just about as calm as in this picture, but it looked like he was going to stuff the bow any minute. Massive, impressive looking boat, but I just can't figure out the down-turned bow design...

Yes, but a 2008 model 310 will always be a 2008 310. I don't think I'll be able to afford a new "whatever-model#-they-call-a-31-footer" in 10 years, but I think I'll be able to afford a 10 year old 31 footer in 10 years.

joe, I cant' figure it out either, it looks like they've pushed it even further than before on that one... the bow is like a foot lower. odd.

i'd love to see what happens when coming out an inlet and you bury the bow in the waves.
