Is a 4hp enough to transport 4 people back and forth to the beach on a small 9 ft raft. Used to have a 15 HP but it was 2 heavy. Will the 4 be A slug with 2 people I know it won't plans.

It would work if your not in a rush it should be fine. The weight can be a real issue with the larger motors.

15 hp was 110 lbs, never used it because it was so heavy, wanted a 6hp but might have a good deal on a 4 that I cant pass up.

I got a nice light 6 hp mercury that's in great shape. Got a new 30 hp rib so it just sits in the basement. PM me if interested, I am in Maryland.

I have a 3.5hp on my 9' dinghy. With 1 person it flies. With 2 and a dog, it goes okay. If you can get the weight distribution right, it actually helps it ride better and plane faster.

So it's fine for quick runs to beach. I did the grand canal route in oakdale with wife and dog and it was fine.

I have a 4 hp 2 stroke on a 9' dinghy. It will plane with one person. We use it all the time to shuttle 4 adults to beach. It is plenty of hp for what you want to do.

Great just picked up a used 4hp 4 stroke Tohatsu. Sounds like I will be good. Thanks
