Has anyone replaced their aft stateroom A/C unit in a Carver 356. The location of the discontinued Marine Air unit under the bed platform requires a custom shroud which Marine Air made for Carver to accommodate the return duct leading to the foot of the bed.
Dometic no longer makes the original unit. The new Victor Turbo Marine Air system fits the space but has some copper tubing around the evaporator coil making it tough to use the original shroud.
Any ideas would be welcomed.

Just found out that Marine Air (Dometic) does make a shroud to fit the Vector Turbo Marine A/C system. Allows for hookup of the 10" to 12" diameter flex duct work under the aft cabin bed.
Should be a simple "plug and play" replacement project connecting seawater hoses, condensate hose, duct work and the 110 electrical connections. The I/O Passport thermostat is also a plug in process to the A/C and the thermostat.

Let us know what you think of the new Marine Airr Turbo Vector unit. I have read rave reviews about it compared to the older less efficient units.
Thanks,
Bill

Bill: We removed the original Marine Air 16,000 BTU unit from the salon earlier this year and replace it with the Vector Turbo model from Marine Air. We noticed a big difference in cooling/heating, with better air volume from the blower, and less noise. The drain pan is a composite material which will never rust.
Based on the success of the Vector Turbo salon A/C installation, we are changing out the unit in the aft cabin. The new software is more user friendly too.
I also noticed that the system used less amps/electricity looking at the panel.
Overall, we are satisfied. Shop around, you may be able to get discounts of 20% to 30% off the factory list price from a distributor.
