Interstrip or Walnut Shells?

I have a 1987 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer that I boat on Lake Michigan with and have it in dry dock this summer (busy summer). I was already to purchase Interstrip and strip the bottom myself, but a local charter captain recomends to have a professional strip with crushed walnut shells.
And then wait till next spring to apply thr 2 part epoxy Interprotect, the reasoning is to make sure the bottom is completely dried out. The botom does not have any blisters now. This would be preventive medicine. Has anybody had this done with the shells, I was quoted roughly $1,500.00 without the final sanding that would be required. And yes I think I'm nuts for not putting in this year.
Thanks in advance on any replies.
