Rail mount or portable grills?

I ordered a micro pin vise to go with them. S/B good to go (famous last words LOL).
 
I used the chart and the "tools" I purchased to open up the orifice a couple of sizes. I went up to #63 for 9563 and there was improvement. The grill heats up faster and gets a bit hotter more quickly. To access the orifice all that was required was removing the burner tube, fold out tray and handle on the regulator side. Careful, easy does it use of the drill bit and vice from micromark worked like a charm. The vice did not clamp down on the bit too well but it got the job done.
For an 8K BTU unit the #65 (8557 BTU) bit was tight and probably opened it up some. The flame is still completely controlled, and uniform. The low setting provides a good low setting still as well.
 
I just found a propane line from my main tanks to a spot on the rail on the bow. I'd sure like to use that instead of canisters. So, what's the consensus on the gas lines with regulators? Too restrictive or not?
 
Would that not depend on where the regulator was? Near the tank or near the bow rail. Personally with all of the vibration on boats I like to keep it short. As in a bottle on the grill or a short hose to the tank near the grill.
I have no idea what code calls for but I am thinking "soft" copper tubing?

I have two ten gallon tanks on about a 12 foot run of hose to a valve on the rail. I would assume the grill will have a hose with its own regulator on it that will hook up to the valve on the rail.

I used a 1 lb tank directly plumbed at the grill, and stored in a pouch that I hung over the side below the gunwale when not in use.

Worked for me. YMMV.
