I'm looking forward to the captains course that Regal is giveing me this week. It starts Wed. with a walk thru the factory and three days their after with captain Skip Shepard on a boat similar to mine 3880 with gas instead of dis. I was woundering if anybody had any suggestions or comments on does or don'ts . Thanks

Best advice is to enjoy yourself!

Everyone I've spoken to that has done the Captain Skip route has been VERY satisfied.

Have fun! Skip is a great guy and you will learn A LOT!!! My wife and I did the training for our 4460 and we learned so much in those two days it was almost overwhelming. After we had a day or two to absorb it all, it was the best time we could have spent getting to know our boat from front to back. It made our ownership much more fun and relaxing to be able to find things, and know how they should work vs. looking in the book and then trying to figure it out for yourself.

Remember...there are no stupid questions. If you are not sure, ask! And don't forget to have fun.

Thanks, I plan on taking alot of notes. I have allready spoke to Skip on many occasion and he has been very knowledgeable. Thanks again.

He will even give you the notebook to take the notes in! At least he did when we went through a couple of years ago.

If you think of it, tell him hi from Mark & Kristi in Duluth, MN.

Enjoy and say hi to Skip for me please, ask him to show you the dolphins .... up close ...

You got it Big Bliss, Skip sounds like a verry popular guy.

Bill,
We're planning on scheduling the same training for our 4080 sometime this spring. I look forward to hearing about your experience. How's the progress on your faded wood situation?

Hi Kent, It turn out to be a dealer problem and they compensated me. Sorry to be sort but I am just leaving for a plane to Fl. Talk to you when I get back.

New to this site,Is this a new Regal perk ,could you summerize what the captain does for you and how to set up an appointment. Thanks

When you purchase a new Regal sports yacht model from a dealer, included in the price is hands on training down in FL with Captain Skip on the model boat you are purchasing. Shows you all the systems, how to use them and some on the water training as well. Most times you can also visit your boat as it is being built.

It's a nice touch, esp if you are a northern boater and need a boating fix during the winter...

Isn't the Regal factory training only available to newly purchased 4460 and 5260 models?

Looked at one of the older brochures, (2005) and it says 4260 & 3880. So I guess it's 4080 and up...

Just found a pdf of the 2008 brochure and this is what it says....

"Before you take delivery of your new Regal Yacht, use one of ours to practice on.

Regal Pre-delivery Rewards Program:

The vast unknown that exists aboard any new boat when you board for the first time is, even for the most experienced yachtsperson, a challenging situation. All the new systems, the location of everything, how the boat operates, new electronics, new engines, new generator, new heads... you’re entering a new world and it can be intimidating. That’s why we have a program that eliminates the unknown, relieves the stress and suitably rewards you for choosing a Regal Yacht.

Here’s what you need to know, to know everything: In St. Petersburg, Florida, Regal yachts and a professional captain/instructor are made available to owners, prior to taking delivery of their yacht. The Program is designed to provide all the knowledge and confidence you will need to take the helm of your new yacht and it is custom tailored to meet individual needs and level of experience. You and your crew will get to know all the systems and how they operate. You’ll cruise around St. Pete, living on the yacht. Everything you need to know, you’ll know, before you take delivery. The Regal Pre-delivery Rewards Program is more than a fun learning experience, it’s the prelude to an exceptional ownership experience."

Doesn't say anything about specific models....

I just purchased an 07 regal 4060 diesel with ips,now I am going to give my dealer in minnesota a jingle.Great perk.

Used to and when we were down there they also had a 3560 (now 3760) for training. Give Regal a call at customer service and ask them directly. I am sure they acommodate you.

Just called and left a message with sales. This is where you differentiate yourself from the other boat manufacturers.Boats are the same size ,different fly bridge.Good time to travel to Florida.Windchill now 41 below.

Regal stepped to the plate,Glad I bought a regal.
