We spent Thanksgiving Day cruising the Farallon Islands so I thought I would share a few of the pictures. It was a beautiful day with little wind an no other boats.

Days like this make it pretty easy to be Thankful!

Great pictures. Wonderful weather. Was that the tallship Lady Washington leaving the Bay? We do have a lot to be thankful for and you just proved it. Great boating season. Thanks

You have my "dream" boat. [^]

Beautiful children in the pics. I would have enjoyed seeing them on the bow much more had the PFDs been worn! It would be a tragedy to lose either of them overboard....... [:-brokenheart]

I'm glad the trip turned out so nice for you and yours. [:-bouncy]

We were stopped and we had them take them off just for the pictures. I did have a throwable on the bow along with the PFD's in case something happened during the pictures. They wear them anytime they aren't in the cabin or on the fly bridge. I guess I should have put a disclaimer on the photos.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and sharks were swimming around. Not the best place to fall overboard.

Arnold,

There were hundreds of giant jelly fish out there the day we were there. There is really no place in the Ocean that is good to fall over board.

I saw your pictures from a couple weeks ago and they were great. We were lucky in that we didn't have any fog to contend with. There was a little bit of fog in the bay when we left but we never had any visability issues during our trip.

Liz,

I agree with your position that life jackets should be worn by children on all boats, but I don't think that the law requires it on a boat this size.

Hope you had a good holiday weekend!

I believe the law does require them to be worn when you are underway and the childern are not in the cabin. If the kids are under 13 I make them wear the PDFs anytime they are not in the cabin or on the fly bridge (the fly bridge is enclosed) regardless as to whether the law requires it or not. Again for these pictures we were not underway and we were prepared for any type of mishap. In any event I suppose it can't be discussed too much if it keeps people thinking about keeping passengers safe.

kris, I believe you did take all of the necessary precautions; it just was not apparent from the picture originally posted. Dave [AbsoLoot] is correct. Only boats 26 ft and smaller require the PFDs for children 13 yrs and younger except in a enclosed cabin if the boat is underway. [I looked it up!] ;)

Thanks for the clarification of the law. I won't share that with the kids as it will be one less debate I need to have with them about wearing the PDF's.

Flutterby,

You need to get busy on the posts here, you are less than 100 away from 10,000. :)

Oh my. I had no idea....I don't pay any attention to number of posts. Where did you find that info????

BTW, I won't tell your kids your secret! Good idea.
