We have found one of these that we really like and want to make an offer on. Nice boat, hollow fiberglass stringers & solid fiberglass hull, needs carpet & headliner. Headliner was stained by something leaking from bridge possibly hydraulic steering fluid as it has a pink tinge to it. They are asking $61,500.00 here is a link to it.

The front deck creaks when you walk on also. What do you think would be a fair price? Any other comments would be appreciated. I also posted this on the marine surveyor forum but thought I might get some more feedback here

Just my opinion, but for that price and year, it had better be absolutely perfect. Great boat but a bit high in price to me, especially for that vintage.

I don't think it is an 89. The 89 was a different boat. This one looks sort of like a cross between our 91 model and an 89. Kind of strange. Those are really low hours for that age of boat . . .

Mike the motors were replaced in 2001 at 1120 hours. The way the engine hatches drain it appears there may be an intrusion that lands on top of the motors. Have you had any issue with that?

Thanks,Don

Don,
We just purchased an '89 34 Santego (41' LOA)- ours looks identical to yours except for the head (we don't have the angled wall going up from behind the head) or the teak trimming. Ours needs the full bridge enclosure replaced and new GPS Chartplotter installed. We bought for $33,500 in Michigan ($20K under asking). There were 685 hours on original 454 Crusdaer engines. She surveyed very well and our mechanic tells us she's in very good condition. Last week we brought her from Sarnia to Georgian Bay and she handled the Lake Huron 10' swells beautifully! Better than her owners! Good luck with your purchase - I'd definitely lowball your initial offer and be sure to get a good surveyor.

Don:

IF the rear drains plug (leaves or such) it could be a problem. I have a closed cell foam tape that does a good job sealing against any leakage. I check the drains every once and a while and no problems. Oh, once I had a drip because the sealant had eroded where the aluminum rails attach to the fiberglass. I just cleaned it out and resealed with marine grade silicone.

This boat seems in nice shape. Look at the last two numbers on the SN# that will tell you what year. It's a 1989 or 1990. The blue vinyl stripes on the sides in the back was from those years, also the blue couches and the solid bone color interior. In 1991 and 1992 the interior has textered wall covering. I have a 1990 and we have a few other years in our marina so we compare. This boat is almost the same as mine, except for the wood on the dash and in the head, I think that was added. It had 486 hours, all the electronic gear and fair canvas, bought it 2 years ago for $55,000. I'm kind of fusy. So I replaced or refinshed every thing. I took all of the vinyl stripes off and refinshed the gelcoat. Repainted bilge and engines, New white carpet, fridge, central Vac., panel lights, shower sump, repainted the blue gelcoat stripes, new dash and gauges, new canvas and list goes on. Could have just got a new boat! But we like the style and quality of this one.

It's not a '89, no walk-thru to the front deck that year, changed in 1990.

I believe that was only for the 30 santego. The one in the picture does have a walk through.

To clarify, the 3067 Santego which I believe was called the 34 at some point when the 27 Santego became to 30, the 30 became the 34, and the 34 became the 38.

Chef,

You are correct, I looked at the wrong model pics...

Don --- Mike has his for sale, have you checked out post with link?

aholst1, yes I have. This one is in good shape except the headliner & carpet and it's in our backyard & his is more $ than we wanted to spend. Thanks for all the responses.

Don
