My 5.7L Volvo Duo-prop (1999) reaches about 4200 at WOT. I was reading the label on the engine the other day and it recommends 4400-4800 at WOT. Ive been using 91 octane fuel (ok by VP). The bottom had just been waxed (not painted) and was racked stored prior to my ownership - the bottom is literally smooth as a babys butt.
So I've already changed my fuel filters- no difference. The only thing I can think of is adjusting the timing, seeing that the duo-props are the proper ones for the boat, and once in a while I was getting run-on after i shut off the engine. It also is idling higher than recommended (idling at 900RPMS, VP wants 650RPMS) so Im thinking the last owner adjusted the timing improperly. I just need help on where to start. What are some of the causes of not reaching WOT?
