Under the corners of the windshield of this boat are two small channels that (I guess) allow air under the windshield but are also zones for allowing rainwater to pool. Water leaving these pools have to routes:

1) Travel along the gunwhale on the outside of the windshield to a small drainage outlet under the side mirrors.

2) Travel down the gunwhale on the inside of the windshield and spill down the dash and eventually the carpet.

This second route just doesn't seem right.

What is the function of these two channels under the windshield? I'd like to seal them up if they're of no great importance.

Thx

Cant tell you on that one but on my 3060 they have channels that drain the water right into the boat aft of the radar arch and onto the shore power locker. I spoke with the dealer and had them talk to Regal. We just puttied them in and the problem was solved. I would contact a local dealer and see what can be done.

Thanx Goat Locker. I believe that's my only option too.

Still would like to know the logic behind this architecture. It's a dog that don't hunt.

Regards

I think these openings are for ventilation, i.e. if your enclosure is up while underway. I have never had water come in the boat though these. Does this happen, say, in your driveway with the nose pointed up sharply? Or does this happen when sitting level in the water?

Hi I have a similar problem on my 2100LSR. It leaks when at dock or sitting level on the trailer leaving stains on the carpet. I believe the openings are for ventilation as mentioned by tlc118. They certainly are needed if you are running with the canvas up to help keep the cockpit cool and the windshield clear. I have yet to find a solution for the drainage, but would appreciate any input.

tlc118,

It happens while sitting in the water - in its natural state in the rain with tonneau and bow covers assembled. I never run the boat with the canopy on. In fact, I don't even have that configuration. These vents are natural collection areas for water and I must conclude that Regal designed these knowing rainwater would collect and would have designed proper drainage channels. But for the life of me, I can't see how the water draining down the inside of the windshield has anywhere else to go but inside the boat.

My '01 1800 sits on the trailer in the driveway with mooring cover and never had this issue. Rainwater drains by the mirror, never had water in the boat from rain.

I inquired at a Regal dealer about this and the tech just rolled his eyes as if completely familiar with this bogus design and its attendant problems. He advised me to putty them up. I did. Problem solved.

Thanx to everyone for your assistance. Great group.
