I'm having difficulty getting answers....

Just purchased 2004 Glastron 185 GX last Feb. with a 4.3 mercruiser I/O. I've been running 10% ethanol since I purchased the boat with relatively no problems. I did note last year that after pulling skiers a few times that I would loose power out right at the start but then the boat would plane out and run fine. Ran two tanks through this year with no problem then a couple of weeks ago after pulling a skier the motor all of the sudden started cutting out, back firing and eventually stalled and would not start again. After about an hour, it started and ran for about 10 minutes and died again. I pulled air cleaner and am getting plenty of fuel. I pulled distributer cap and am getting spark from the coil to the distributer. I then took it to the Dealer who stated that the timing was off and adjusted it for $100.00. Also put in that sea foam stuff and we filled the tank with premium fuel (no ethanol) had same problem after 45 min running. Dealer is now guessing that it's either the thermostat or the engine compartment is getting too hot. However, I just got done running it tonight with the 'hood' up and the same thing happened. One side of the exhaust is hot and the other side seems very cool as if when the motor heats up it's not firing on all cylinders.

Mercruiser's help line thinks it's the engine compartment that is too hot and suggested that Glastron put in vents. Can't be that because I ran it with the hood up. Dealer called Glastron today who stated that you don't have any such vents and that if custom work was done that it may invalidate my waranty. They also stated that regardless of the type of fuel I put in that in Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska where I am, they use ethanol blended fuel and didn't provide the Dealer with any real solutions to fix the problem.

The boat only has 120 hours on it and it seems that Anyone have any idea's before I spend more $ to pay for the tech's guessing game?

Thanks!
