Hello group, new to this board. This is my second Regal since May-07 . I took delivery of a 2008 2565 in August. I love the boat, but have had serious gelcoat issues. The port cat eye window had to be removed and replaced becuase of a horrible install job at the factory. They cracked the gelcoat during replacment. Also the back starboard transom under the swim deck has a brown stain in the gel. The stain is probably 6x6 inches. Have any other members had problems with their gelcoat from a new boat?

I have a 2008 2665 and my gelcoat looks great. I have had several issues but I believe the dealer has just repaired my last problem. If you haven't already, check with Regal as you may develop other gelcoat issues. If they did not apply it correctly in one area they probably did it in other areas also.

Good luck,

We have an 08 3060 and had spider cracks fixed on the gelcoat. My dealer brought in an outside gelcoat contractor that did the work. The boat arrived in May and we are down to the last three issues. We may have them complete before the boat gets pulled for winter.

Thanks swept away and 3060. It really looks like the boat was dropped out of the mold, or had damage from the factory. The dealer is addressing the problems. I did notice several other small cracks, however I want to get the big problems fixed first. I have some other minor issues that I am dealing with but overall I love the looks of the boat.

Borst -- I too recently bought a new 2565 (albeit a new 2006). Would be happy to share problems/fixes/etc. We had some initial "new boat" problems, but all are fixed now. Did not experience the gelcoat issues you describe. Congrats on the new boat!

Riddlek, hello, I was trying to send you a email but was unable. I have had several issues with the boat since I purchased it new in August. It is amazing how a boat can leave the factory with such obvious flaws, gelcoat and window issues. I think the qualtiy control department was asleep or at lunch when my boat left. I do love the boat and all the problems are getting fixed. Oh, one problem which I think all members will enjoy. My center sump bilge was plumbed wrong. When the sump would kick on, the exit or drain hose was plumbed backwards so that the drain would go into my AC drain pan, instead of out the back of the boat. For two weeks I could not figure out why my floors were wet and bed was soaked. I finally relized what was going on and switched the drain hose for the AC pan and the exit hose around. I have also had a gear lube issue, the alarm came on one day. The resevoir was dry I had to fill it completely up. It seems to be holding steady.

That can happen anytime the drive leg gets filled/refilled. An air bubble can prevent proper filling and it works out as you use the boat. Should always keep an eye on the lube bottle. The fact that is holding would seem to indicate you have no leaks.

Just one less thing to worry about as you work the kinks out of the new boat.

One "trick" I have seen last spring during my outdrive maintenance: the mechanic removed the shift mechanism plate and poured the new drive oil through this opening. Much more easy of course. And you can check how your shifting gear looks like ...
