I think my prop may not have been a good selection. When I bought the boat the prop was already on it. Its a VIP 19' w/3.0 OMC Cobra. My speedo broke today on the lake. Was working fine, but just stopped reading (!?) so I cant give exact mph. But I'm hitting over 6k rpms with 2 adults in the boat on a fresh tune up. Before the tuneup and with less favorable lake conditions I was hitting 40mph or so at about 5200 rpms. I'm happy with 40 mph, would of course love to go faster, but I'm not sure I want to keep going over 6k rpms on this motor. Seems a bit high. The prop is a 15 x 17 SS unit. Anyone have prop reccomendations or is 6100-6200rpms ok on this motor? I usually pull a tube or skier but I'm currently happy with my hole shot, doesn't seem to be an issue at all really.
