2000 340 with 7.4 v drives. New AGM batteries(4)group 27 installed last fall. While hooked to shore power, experienced a problem with head(vacuflush) kicking breaker. Turns out it was low voltage. Port side was discharged. After running generator and taking a 45 minute cruise voltmeter on port bank finally came up to 14 volts. Head worked fine. Do I have a problem with the on board charger or bad battery(s). Didn't have a voltmeter so could do no diagnostics.

this must have been a really dumb question or my deodorant is not working.

well... you may have had better luck in the general forum...

if your house battery was discharged at the dock, it's clear that the charger was not on. was the breaker on ? does you charger have a status light or amp meter on , was it on, showing amps ?

check that you have AC voltage on the inlet side of the charger, and check the voltage on the output side, on the batteries. measure voltage with the charger off then turn it on. voltage shoudl go up at least 1v.

make sure all the leads were re connected when the batteries were replaced... trace the leads from teh charger and check

your house bank should also be charged by the engine, i wonder if you didn't recharge them with the mains and not with the generator / charger.

you need to measure voltages at the batteries, with a voltmeters... charger on, and off, engines on and off.

Thank you Pascal. As usual your comments are very helpful. It will be a couple of weeks before I'm back on board but your direction is appreciated. I'll let ya know what I find. I've not experienced any problems all season long so I should have "No Gripes".
