I have a chance to pick up a 1999 340 Sundancer for about $110,000, however there is something that is bothering me, it has twin 350 Mags/inboards. I am wondering if this is enough power for this boat? Can anyone help me to answer this question? I have a 260 DA now, with a 350 Mag/ Bravo III and that just seems about right to me. Help if you can.

Thanks for all your help, I don't know what I am going to get this 340 or a 2004 320 that I found. The 320 will take my 260 as a trade, that way I don't have the hassel of selling my boat.

300hp should be fine.. i had a 98 maxum 37, which i think is heavier (18k) and it had no problem getting on plane and cruised at a solid 20kts with the 310hp engines.

the only concern with the smaller engines would be that they are working harder than the 7.4s

check the engine bay to make sure you can easily service everything... that's one of the reason i didn't choose the SR back then, you could barely stand between the engines and forget about reaching the genny ! also check for close quarter engines, i think it had bigger pockets, smaller rudders and the engines closer to centerline

justt my 2cents, I'd take the 320 trade. Newer boat less sales tax (with trade in) more contempoary style so it will have better resale.

I had a 320 and it was a nice baot.

It have the 350 mags v drives and was sufficiently powered.

330DA here with twin 7.4s and it's almost too much power IMHO. Dock mater has a 3370 Cruisers with twin 5.7's, Bravo 3 outdrives and the boat is as fast, if not faster then ours. Plus he burns less fuel.

I just bought a 320 Dancer with 350 Mag's - I used to have a 260 Dancer with a 7.4 MPI - Bravo III. I would prefer Big Blocks in that boat. I spoke to a few that had 340's with small blocks. Some of them switched to 4 blade props. I did find a nice 01 - 340 - freshwater in MN - for a good price. But opted for the 320.

HI
I own a 1998 330Da basically the same hull as the 340. I have the 5.7 magnum v drives and the boat has plenty of poop!
The 7.4l 454 have 310 hp while the magnums have 300. but consider the weight difference my boat does no squat as much as the big block varient.
The 454 have more torque but I get up on plane just fine. Its a great boat really a great boat.
