I own an 03 360 with the 6.2 merc and was wandering what would be the WOT speed since I can't get it to past 16-17 knots at 4200/4400 RPM. I tought I could run the boat at 15 knots 3800 RPM or less but it is a struggle. Am I over prop??? It cuises nice at 8 knots 2800 rpm. I'm a little dispointed of the speed with the 6.2. I used to own a 03 Mariner with same engine package and was able to cruise to boat at 18 knots no prob. Any comments.

Thanks

8 knots at 2800 RPM's is not good.
My 3807 will do 7-8 knots at 1800 RPM's. I have bigger engines but a much heavier boat.

my 2003 360 Sports Sedan (hull #7) with the 6.2 mercs will achieve 24 mph at 4200 rpm in fresh water with a clean bottom, at full fuel load, no water, 2 people and lots and lots of gear.....generally prefer to run at 32-3600 rpm at 18-20 mph..(depending on sea conditions)

have related question for you.....have you had any issues with the serpentine belts and premature wear with the 6.2 motors ??

I have lost a belt couple years back but was due to a seized up water pump..The impeller jamed up the pump. This was on my mariner. On the 360 my port engine belt sqeaks at low rpm (1400)but I had yet to replace one.
My 360 at 3200 rpm only does 15Kmh.
Um!! something's not right.

Just to give a comparison point, my 2003 360 Sedan with Volvo 8.1's runs at 19kts at 3100rpm, with a clean bottom and running gear

Thanks to all that have given back input. We have identified the problem to a faulty transducer. Electronics was reporting wrong speed. Hand held GPS reported 24 knots at 4000 RPM.

Thanks again.
